A much maligned form of literature, the poem is concerned with more than the simple meaning of words. With the novel riding dominant in the minds of those who spend a few spare moments away from their televisions, to proclaim oneself a poet, or even to enjoy reading poetry, is to attempt to rise above the "real" world of description, dialogue, and detail. But the purpose of poetry is not to be obscure, but to seek out and enjoy alternative, and occasionally transcendent, means of expressing oneself in words. Here, not only the meaning of the written words has importance and significance, but also their order, pattern, sound, and appearance.
Herein will be found my own poems, my friends poems, and my impressions about other people's poetry.
