JOHN CHISHOLM: Galapagos Romance. CD
This is the BEST song I've heard of John's. It reminds me of the 'Salvation' movie soundtrack (written mostly by New Order.) The album might be done now, I've only pre-heard this one song. Write to: Meatshop productions, Box 917, Parksville, B.C, V9P-2G9, Canada.
EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTY: I received a demo tape with one song on it. It sounds like construction going on in a city I've never been to. It came with a very amusing one-of-a-kind front cover (ha ha!) I hope to hear some more. c/o Jerry Tolsma, 5208 Blenheim St, Vancouver, B.C, V6N-1N8, Canada.
WAX BEAN ORCHARD: (To Be Announced) CD
This band has been receiving frequent rotation in night clubs in Toronto, Ontario. They've also charted high on two major radio stations. I think that the lead singer uses the drum machine beats to hover over the dance floor. Hey, I can wish. Atten: M. Kuebler, 4-1030 Adelaide St. N, Suite 143, London, Ontario, N5Y-2M9, Canada.
RICHARD SCHILLER: I received a cool plastic envelope with a demo tape inside. There are five songs on it, in the same amount of minutes. Here's a loose, laidback track with a lot of space. Write to: Richard Schiller, 31 Holbrooke Ave, Etobicoke, ON, M8Y-3B3, Canada.
ADDED HEIGHT: Elektrolux. CA
A couple friends said that this song sounds like the band that played in the bar (in the Star Wars movie.) I like that analogy. Anyway, some parts of this album were played at an art show awhile ago (This song wasn't played.) Write Joel (this is his song) at: REW(ind)USTRY, 465 Craig St, Parksville, B.C, V9P-1L2, Canada.
STUNTED: Spin Spin Girl. CA
This is my side project. I've made a point to do completely raw takes. The first single, 'Please don't go home' got up to #20 on Vancouver's CiTR radio! This one's the second. (Same address as Papernet & Added Height.)
VIVIAN MCALEXANDER: (demo.)
It's nice to hear electronic music from unlikely places like New Mexico! This song was written entirely on an Amiga computer. Vivian's voice completes this song for me. Write to: Digital Brain Music, 520 Harold Dr, Soccoro, NM, 87801, USA
DON LONGTON: (demo.) CA
Again, it's good to see electronica surface in unexpected places. The song 'Touch' sounds similar to a closing song on a movie soundtrack. 'Pyramid Eyes' was interesting too. Write to: R.R.#1, Petite Riviere, Nova Scotia, B0J-2P0, Canada
RAGUL LUGAHR: Greejis Ah Graveyards. CA
First off, stunning fretless basswork! This music is kind of creepy, and very talented. It reminds me a little about Arcadia. This is all done by the solo artist Ragul (he must've charted with his music by now.) Write to: Bomber Boy Productions, 8276 Turtle Creek Circle, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89113, USA.
WHALEMAN: Create Your Own Genre, Crown Yourself King. VN (Vinyl)
The sounds of eccentric folk, that's what this is! One side is (unique!) pop, the other is even weirder. I love electric bowed bass. Stephen Crone is part of the Dave Rave Conspiracy label. (I saw his creative group interviewed on MuchMusic in 1992, and they inspired me to send my music to radio. Thanks guys! You Canadian legends you.) Send postcards, cool envelopes and shiny things to: 2 King St. W, P.O. Box 57053, Hamilton, ON, L8P-4X1, Canada.
BRAVE: Brave. CD
The song 'Modern Living' would fit in sonicly with a compilation I own from Alberta. And that old frontier harpsichord part is a good twist. I love the ending of this song; it reminds me of synthpop from 1980's children's tapes. Ahh, the memories. Write: Don Kidd, 142 S.E.40th St, Cape Coral, Florida, 33904, USA. Or:

HERMIT: Vomit Can Be Found In Jars. CA
The clarinet seems to be the 'vocals' in this song. It's very free flowing; just when you connect with a structure it dissolves. Garbage Society, c/o Eric Boros, 5410 Bergen-Op-Zoom, Nanaimo, B.C, V9T-2M2, Canada. He has an extensive mail-order catalogue already.
AL BARRETT: Greatest Hits. CA
He plays all of the instruments on his albums, and is about to tour with his newly formed band. Very creative stuff; this is definitely a party song! His music is on CKLN FM 88.1, a Toronto radio station, and has a growing fanbase in Quebec. Write to him at: C.P. 211, Cap-de-la-Madeleine, P.Q, G8T-7W2, Canada.
THE BEAT FREAKS: (Demo.)
I love this song for all of the shouting and synth twank! The monotone poised singing on this song makes a lot of sense to me. The song is all the more powerful. Write Steve Bujanow at: 3341 Route 9, Valatie, NY, 12184, USA.
MAP RECORDS: Welcome To Lotus Land. CD (Compilation)
My favourite tracks are by Dreamlogic (Dan Handrabur). The rest of the tracks are well put together. It's definitely worth checking out! All of the artists are from my province too! MAP Music Ltd., 1027 Davie St. #608, Vancouver, B.C., V6E-4L2, Canada. Or:
